Marimaca Copper (TSX: MARI) reported step-out hole SPRD-07 at Pampa Medina in Antofagasta, Chile: 6 m of 6.11% Cu and 24.0 g/t Ag within 20 m of 2.65% Cu. Copper is a grade-times-width game played at percentages, not grams, and 20 continuous metres at 2.65% Cu is a standout — most porphyry and manto systems are celebrated at a quarter of that grade.
The mineralogy matters too: this is bornite, a high-tenor copper sulphide, and the hole extends the high-grade zone 300 metres south of prior drilling. Step-outs that hold grade over that distance are how a pod becomes a deposit. SPRD-08B reportedly carried copper-silver mineralisation as well, suggesting the zone is not a one-hole feature.
We reserve 'exceptional' for numbers that support it. Twenty metres of 2.65% Cu, with a six-metre core above 6% and the zone growing along strike, clears that bar. As disclosed in Marimaca's July 7, 2026 material change filing on SEDAR+.
